The Outpouring of the Spirit
Human history witnessed a huge, mighty and global invasion of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost.
The new birth experience is accompanied with a gentle breeze of the Holy Spirit - a life giving experience.
John 3:8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Genesis 2:7 Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
John 20:22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
Jesus had commanded the apostles to remain in Jerusalem and wait for the gift the Father promised - the baptism with the Holy Spirit. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers. They were a group numbering about a hundred and twenty.
Acts 2:1-4 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
Just as the universal invasion of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit invades into people who are living in darkness, brings a great outpour to remove chaos, shapelessness, etc and bring forth a people that have life, light, order, shape and fruitfulness.
Heaven’s Sound, Heaven’s Wind, Heaven’s Fire, Heaven’s Tongues - The Holy Spirit’s Invasion
They waited and waited and waited and waited, until He came.
If you don’t tarry, you don’t carry.
With the sound and blowing of a violent wind - atmosphere changed, when fire came - they were filled with passion/ zeal/ fervour and as they spoke in other tongues - their culture changed.
This was a sudden invasion of the Holy Spirit, and that too in an unexpected time!
When the Holy Spirit comes, He will upset the usual norm. May we pray and expect the same for the churches in our nation and across the globe - a mighty outpour!
