Focus Word: Dominion
Focus Verse: Deuteronomy 28:13 says The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.
Declaration: I walk in authority and dominion today; no power can limit my God-given influence.
4 things about dominion:
Dominion was part of God’s original design.
From the beginning, God created humanity to rule responsibly and under His authority.
Genesis 1:26 says Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
God’s original purpose was to have man rule and have authority over all living things on the earth.
Psalms 8:6 says You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet:
Romans 5:17 says For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
Dominion is not arrogance, it is stewardship under God’s leadership because God never designed His people to live defeated, without any direction, enslaved by fear etc.
True dominion is operated under heaven’s authority not human authority.
Dominion begins with self-government.
Before ruling territory, we must rule ourselves.
Proverbs 16:32 says Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.
Galatians 5:22-23 says 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Everything will follow if you have self-control.
1 Corinthians 9:27 says No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Self-government preserves strength.
Dominion requires courage and responsibility.
Leadership is not merely privilege, it is accountability and with this comes a lot of responsibility to be held questionable for things. During Joshua’s time, he had to lead very courageously into an open fight. Joseph governed wisely during famine. Nehemiah built under pressure.
Joshua 1:9 says Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Luke 12:48 says But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
Colossians 3:23 says Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
Dominion carries the responsibility to protect, build, and influence rightly. Leadership demands alertness. So, authority must be matched with responsibility.
Dominion in Christ overcomes limitation.
Through Christ, believers are not ruled by fear, sin, or defeat.
Romans 8:37 says No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Luke 10:19 says I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
2 Corinthians 2:14 says But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
Dominion means:
Refusing despair,
Overcoming temptation,
Advancing through obstacles,
Walking in spiritual authority.
Specialities of people of dominion:
They influence environments instead of being controlled by them.
From today on you should live in God’s authority! Don’t live beneath your calling. Serve with wisdom and advance with courage.
