LIVING A LIFE OF PURITY
FOCUS WORD: PURITY
FOCUS VERSE: Matthew 5: 8 - Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
DECLARATION: My heart is pure before the Lord; purity brings clarity and power to my life.
Purity begins in the heart: Those who embrace purity of heart will be blessed. God starts where others cannot see, where no human eye can reach. Action is the fruit and the roots are found in the heart. Every thought which begins in the mind is spoken out and acted. If the heart is clean, life will also be clean.
Proverbs 4: 23 -
Jesus taught that it is not what goes inside the body that makes it unclean, but what comes out from the inside.
Psalm 51: 10 -
Man’s heart is basically evil. The condition of the heart will become the direction of your life. For example: a stream running from the hills - if the source is clean, the running water will be clean. So we need to protect the source, that is, our heart. The Prophet Elisha saw that the water in one town was contaminated causing disease and death. So he sprinkled salt into the water and it became clean and drinkable.
Purity gives spiritual clarity: Sin clouds spiritual perception; purity sharpens perception to see God. People ask God for clear direction while tolerating compromise that dulls their spiritual vision.

A clean heart is able to recognise God’s heart more clearly. Purity removes whatever obscures our vision of God.
Purity produces spiritual authority: From the very beginning we see that God gave appointments to those who pursued purity of heart. Eg: Joseph, Daniel.
2 Timothy 2: 20 and 21 -
1 Thessalonians 4: 3 and 4 -
James 4: 8 -
God’s power flows freely through surrendered lives.
Purity is preserved through our daily choices: One may fast and pray for a 40-day period and assume that they have achieved purity. But it is in the later days taking everyday choices that determine the extent of your purity. It is important to consider and take decisions that are in sync with purity of heart. It is not maintained by one single or great decision. Purity is protected the daily choices we make - every thought that is entertained, every conversation, every habit, every compromise - either strengthens or weakens our purity.

Remaining in the Word is the best way to maintain purity of heart. Purity is guarded one decision at a time. Choose purity in your thoughts, speech, motives, relationships and actions. God has said - “Be holy as I am holy.”
