This Can Be Your Story - Part 17
God has kept a prosperous future for each of our lives. Most times, it is we ourselves who spoil it. Many people however stray away from their God given destiny by living in bitterness through hurts from various people around them.
In Joseph’s life, we see how he reached the destiny God had set for him though the road to his destiny was tough. He was accused of things he didn’t do and went through trying situations and injustice for many years. He was never bitter through any of these experiences. Ultimately, every promise given to him by God was fulfilled as God was the centre of his life.
Even our lives, our actions, our thoughts should revolve around our God. God has given us free will and free thought. But a life without God, in sin, ends in death. A life led by the Spirit, leads to eternal life. God should have first place/ priority in our life even over our family, work etc.
Joseph gave the most important place to God and so he swiftly moved from prison to palace. The same can happen to us too if we give God first place. If we stand for God, though delayed, our blessings will be great.
Genesis 41:50
Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” The second son he named Ephraim and said, “It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”
There is a principle of God that is seen here: Unless we forget the troubles and sorrows of our past, we cannot hope to see fruitfulness in our life. In other words, Ephraim could not have been born without Manasseh having been born. We cannot receive abundance and prosperity unless we let go of our past. We all need a deep healing to get rid and be healed of our bitterness and to move on to receive an increase. Manasseh means God helps us forget all our past hurts and wounds and gives us freedom. There is a God who sees all things and can restore you.
Joseph soon became the Governor, the most sought after person and the decision maker in Egypt.
Genesis 41:54
and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food.
Just like Joseph prophesied, the seven years of famine arrived. All nations were affected, but Egypt had stored their earlier harvest.
Genesis 41:55
When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph and do what he tells you. "When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt. And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.
The Pharaoh sent people to Joseph and asked them to do whatever Joseph says. Joseph had the solution to feed the hungry world. The Hebrew slave finally becomes the one who feeds the world. In the spiritual sense, Joseph is the shadow of Jesus who feeds the whole world.
When you are a child of God, you become a solution and an answer to the problems of the world.
Only when you go through trials, you are prepared to become a problem solver!
