A Divine Door Is Opening Before You
We continue the study of the “Book of Philippians”; today we will go on to verse 3 to 6 of Philippians chapter 1.
Philippians 1:3 I thank my God every time I remember you.
Here, we see that Paul expressed his gratitude unto God not for any of his personal needs; but for the leaders, believers and ushers in the church at Philippi.
Generally, people are thankless, but we ought to be thankful to God, our parents who’ve raised us, our pastors who nurture us spiritually, and the church family that we belong to. Believers in every church would either have a consumer’s mentality or a contributor’s mentality. Those who love Christ, who is the Head, will love the Body of Christ, i.e. the Church - with this outlook, we’ll be willing to serve God in every way possible. We can develop an attitude of gratitude by being thankful to God and to people even for the little things.
Psalm 103:2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits
Romans 1:21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
God considers thanklessness as a criminal offense.
1 Corinthians 10:16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?
The vessel used for holy communion is called a cup of thanksgiving.
Ephesians 5:20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We must always be thankful in all things and develop this nature.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Our entry to God’s heart is through thanksgiving.
Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
We need to pray for a heart that always gives thanks for small and big things.
Philippians 1:4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy
Paul led a prayerful life, and he prayed with joy. Joy comes along with our salvation!
Nehemiah 8:10 for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
It is the second fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and criticism, trouble, etc cannot destroy this joy (Matthew 5:12).
Although the joy in our emotional realm may be affected by wounds or scars, the joy of the spirit cannot be quenched. As you worship, pray and meditate on God’s Word, the joy in your spirit will spill over and pass onto your emotional realm and with this joy, you can overcome any mountain-sized problem that stands in your way. Although the problem might not go away, we will be filled with God’s joy in our spirits.
Philippians 1:5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,
Partnering in the gospel is a great privilege and God desires to fulfill His purpose on Earth with our partnership - a joint venture! When we have such a perspective, God blesses us to partner in the Kingdom Business. The Philippians prayed for Paul and was thankful for him and sent him financial aid through Epaphroditus although he was imprisoned in a distant place.
In conclusion, God desires that we be thankful for all things and be filled with joy as we pray. This open doors for us into His presence
