Call Out What You Need

Romans 4:17 “(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;”
In this passage, Paul talks about Abraham’s story of faith. Here, he tells us about the God who can give life to the dead and who can call things that don't exist as though they did.
God did two things here. Abraham believed that God who gives life to new born babies could bring back Isaac from the dead. Secondly, he knew that God could create something from nothing. This is what God did at creation. He created the whole world out of absolutely nothing (Bara). He created a finished product without any raw material. This was the God Abraham believed in and the God we too believe in.
Hebrews 11:3 “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
God is able to call out things in our life that don't even exist. He can bring all our needs from our emptiness and nothingness. It is by faith that we believe this.
Hebrews 1:2-3 “ but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”
Here we read that 1) it is by Jesus that the universe was created and 2) it is by Jesus that all things are sustained.
There are two things, God’s Word and God’s Spirit. Wherever these two things come together, something is created. God’s Spirit is God Himself and God’s raw material is His Word.
John 3:5-8 “Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[a] gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[b] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.””
Here ‘water’ is the Word of God. It is the Word and the Spirit that brings out a new creation.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
As we believe in his word and in his spirit, we are also made into new creations. In the beginning, we see that it is the Word and the Spirit together that creates and a person is born again and made a new creation also through the Word and the Spirit.
Romans 10:17 “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
The Word can create faith in us.
Looking at Job’s life, what some people say is that Job was the first book written, some people say otherwise as well. However in Job’s time, there were no other scriptures written. Yet, he had great faith in God. The devil then destroyed all things in his life and he had lost everything. Even in the midst of this chaotic situation, he believed that his Savior existed and stood with faith in God. And when God’s Spirit worked in his life, it created a life for him which was much better than the one he had lost. God can bring new and better things out of nothingness.
We were created in God’s image and he has given us some of His characteristics. We can also call forth things into existence in the name of Jesus. When we believe and have faith, we can also do the impossible!
Isaiah 44:24-28 “This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens who spreads out the earth by myself, who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners, who overthrows the learning of the wise and turns it into nonsense, who carries out the words of his servants and fulfills the predictions of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem, ‘It shall be inhabited,’ of the towns of Judah, ‘They shall be rebuilt, and of their ruins, ‘I will restore them,’ who says to the watery deep, ‘Be dry, and I will dry up your streams,’ who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem, “Let it be rebuilt,” and of the temple, “Let its foundations be laid.”’
God is the creator of everything and we must know that He is able to do the same in each of our lives as well! Like God doubled Job's Blessings, He can do the same for us. We must have faith that God can create in our lives what we lack and what we cannot see!
