God Is Specially Good To His Children
There is no darkness or sin in God. God’s eyes are so pure that he cannot look at sin and wickedness in the world. He is Holy, Holy, Holy : the most Holy One. Two of the many great qualities of God is that He is Holy and He is Good .
It is natural for people to forget all the good things God has done for them when they face problems and bad situations in their life. But God is not one who tests people cruelly. It is clearly written in the first chapter of the epistle of James that God does not test us with evil, instead “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, neither shadow that is cast by turning.” (verse 17).
Generally, God makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.( Matthew 5.45) . He is the source of life and not death.
John 1.18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
People have seen visions and dreams of God but no one has ever seen Him in person as He lives in “Unapproachable light”. In 1 Timothy 6.16, Paul writes to Timothy, “who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen.”
Just as we cannot look at the sun directly with our naked eyes, we cannot see God with our naked eyes.He is a consuming fire.
According to John 1.18, it is only the son who sits in the lap of the Father who knows Him and reveals Him to us. This is the privilege of being a son. There is comfort, security, protection etc which only a son gets. As children of God, we too now have this right. So even though God is good to all generally , He is closer and especially good to His children.
How many of you know if you are His children ?
John 1.12 But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:
So a person who believes in Jesus becomes a child of God and if he continues to believe in Him, he continues to be a child of God.
Jesus is the only way to the Father !!!
A child of God has the privilege of enjoying God’s special goodness which is available only to His children.
Psalm 23.6 Surely your goodness and love (mercy) will follow me all the days of my life
This verse gives us the confidence that God’s goodness and Love/ mercy will always follow God’s children.
Psalm 31.19 How abundant are the good thing that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you
God has stored His goodness for those who fear Him and love Him and when it is time He will release it into their lives. We only have to receive it with both hands and give thanks to Him and share our testimony with others.
1 Co 2.9 ( Message Translation) That’s why we have this Scripture text: No one’s ever seen or heard anything like this, Never so much as imagined anything quite like it— What God has arranged for those who love him. But you’ve seen and heard it because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you.
This is God has prepared for His children. We must get closer to Him and live intimately connected to Him knowing that we are His precious children.
Once when Moses prayed and pleaded to God to see His glory, God showed him a part.
Exodus 33.18-19 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
God’s goodness is His glory and God’s glory is His goodness.
Romans 8.28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
We must never take God’s goodness or Glory lightly.
Romans 11. 22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God:
Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
We must never despise His goodness. We worship God, speak about him, live for him etc because He is good. This is a fundamental principle of christian life and as christians we must build on this so that we will not fall.
