Use Your Authority
Genesis 1:26 ‘Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
God has given every one of his children authority over every living thing on this planet. He told us to rule over all! This was God’s purpose in the creation of man.
God had given Adam and Eve this same authority. But Eve did not use that authority over the serpent.
Not making use of the authority given to you by God is dangerous. If a Principal does not use his authority well, the school will flounder.
The serpent manipulated Eve’s authority and took control.
Psalms 115:16 ‘The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to mankind.’
Even though man sinned, God did not take away the authority he gave us. He never takes back his word from us.
The authority which was once stolen by Satan, Jesus came to the earth to take it back from him.
Matthew 28:18-20 ‘18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 10:1,8 ‘Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.’
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
He gave his disciples authority and strength. Similarly, we as his children have the same authority.
Luke 10:19 ‘ I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.’
Do not think that this authority is given to only pastors and evangelists. No, it has been gifted to all of us who are his children.
And now the list that comes under the authority has a few more things added like- authority to drive out demons, to heal, to overcome the power of the enemy.
