Grace And Karma

Each one of us is born physically under a particular religion. As far as Christianity is concerned, we have Christian religion and the Way to Christ. When we make a religion out of the Way that Jesus showed us, it becomes a Christian religion. Jesus Christ did not establish a religion, it was man who did it.
Every religion expects us to do certain works to gain acceptance from God. Every religion has some dos and don’ts. The Jewish religion has volumes of books of religious traditions and rituals over and above the Law given by Moses. All these religions, including the Christian religion, are based on doing good works to please God.
We must know that our good deeds will never change our bad nature. Man has a sinful nature which was handed down from Adam and Eve who fell into sin. As Romans 3.23 says, “ All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. Our sinful nature which we inherited from. Adam will not change by doing good. We can compare it to a piece of coal. By washing it with soap, its properties and nature will not change. But if we put it on fire, it will turn red. The nature of coal changes totally.
Every religion teaches its followers to do good charitable works, to love others etc. Religious people are motivated to do good but are sinful inside of them. Jesus explains this in detail in Matthew 5, 6, 7; where he says that even if we think about sinful things, it is a sin. Paul, the Apostle writes about “The law of Sin” or the “Sinful Nature” very powerfully in Romans chapters 6, 7 and 8. Paul cries out in Romans 7. 24, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?” which also should be our cry.
Our good deeds will never change our bad nature. This is where amazing grace comes to effect. It will not only help us not to do sinful acts but also takes away our sinful nature. This is a great thing. The Bible says that it is not by the way of karma but by believing that we receive salvation.
Grace Vs Karma. Grace is totally opposite to karma. Religion says that if we do good karma we get back good and if we do bad karma we get back bad. But grace says that those we deserve to receive judgement, penalty, death etc which is the wages of sin; we are justified and receive eternal life with all its rewards.
How can we reject this free gift of “Amazing Grace” of God and fall into the ways of karma? This is the danger of following religion instead of the Saviour . It is only with humility that we can receive this “Grace”. God gives grace only to the humble. ( James 4.6)
Ephesians 2.4 -10 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions —it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do
We need to reflect and meditate on this amazing grace and live a blessed life on earth. As 2 Corinthians 5.7 tells us we are new creations ( our spirits) in Christ. Through the word and the Holy Spirit, we can slowly renew our mind ( Romans 12.1) while our bodies will change only at the second coming of Jesus. Grace works inside of us and changes our nature slowly and helps us to do good works.
