If I sin, will I lose Salvation?

In the last few days we heard about how we are marked by the Holy Spirit by the grace of God. So if we sin, do we lose our salvation? We’ve been saved, and soon after that we sin. Does this mean we are not saved anymore and need to be saved again by Jesus?
If this is the case, we will need to be saved hundreds of thousands of times! God’s saving grace is a one time act. When we sin, we do not lose our salvation. However, God’s grace is sustaining, it is there with us in every moment. However, does this grace give us the licence to sin? Never. Not at all. God’s desire for us is to grow in the journey of salvation and become holy and purified day by day.
This question reminds us of a story where a pastor once preached about how we do not lose our salvation if we sin, and saw the entire church engage in sinful activities publicly soon after that. When the church members were asked about when they started doing those particular sins, they all said they did it before, but now they do it publicly as well because of the sermon.
However, when someone truly accepts Jesus and hates sin because Jesus hates sin, it will not be possible for them to revert to sin.
1 John 5:18 “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.”
When we are born again in Jesus, we cannot continue to sin. But then what about what we said before? Let us look at both arguments.
We know that we do not lose salvation if we sin because every disciple including Peter, John, Luke and the rest of them backslid and left Jesus. But even then, we know that Jesus took them back in. In the same way, every single one has sinned, but Jesus does not push us away.
At the same time, the Bible also gives us a strong warning against using this grace as a licence to sin.
Romans 5:20 “The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more”
Romans 6:1,2 “What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?”
When we are saved, we are a small child with respect to our faith. We need to grow with spiritual milk and learn many things and be mentored. As we grow in this journey, we are purified and pruned by God. When we repent of our sins God forgives us and His sustaining grace helps us grow.
1 John 2:1,2 “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
We should not sin and we will be able to reach this point as we grow with Jesus and are transformed day by day. However, if we do sin, we are not to worry as Jesus is our advocate, fighting for our sustaining salvation. He has paid for all the sins we have done and for what all we will do in the future as well, and then some more! He has overpaid for us!
However, this isn't applicable to all people even though Jesus died for the whole world.
Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Salvation is conditional: “If you declare and believe”. Not everyone has accepted this free gift that God has given us. Also the Bible teaches us that it is possible to lose our salvation.
So accept God’s free gift of grace and salvation and grow in the journey of faith so that we may leave our life of sin and become more like Jesus!
