Grace All Through Life

Psalms 103.8-14
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbour his anger forever;10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; 14 for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
Although this psalm was written in the Old testament, it is we who are in the New testament who are actually enjoying it in all its fullness. It is humans who get angry fast. God, on the other hand, is the one who should get angry at us who are sinners. Instead, he is slow to anger. One day, he will reveal his wrath at mankind. How many of us do not understand God’s forgiving nature and his abounding love ? Many see him as a cruel God who doesn’t care as to what is happening in this world.
We understand God’s grace over our lives in the following verses:
Colossians 1.19,20 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Colossians 2.13-15 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
God’s amazing grace stretches over all our life. He released His grace in the past and the present and will in the future also. Christ delivered us from our sins and from Satan on the cross. A huge quantity of amazing grace was spent for our past life more than we can imagine. Our spirit was freed and we became a new creation ( 1 Corinthians 5.17). This is saving grace.
Sustaining grace is the amount of grace he is releasing on our present life till the day we die. Here our soul part (mind, will, emotion) is being saved.
Grace is at work offering full salvation on all who accept it. Grace is continuously being released as and when we require it.
2 Corinthians 9. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
This verse is a blank cheque that God gives us personally. This is the grace that He is releasing into our lives.
The Bible also tells us that God will release a grace into our future over and above the saving grace and sustaining grace.
Ephesians 2.7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
He is yet to show us his incomparable riches of his grace which we have not seen before. This will be revealed only when Christ is revealed in his second coming.
1 Peter 1:13 (ESV) Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
Our sufferings on this earth are momentary. After we have suffered a little while, God will restore us and make us strong and firm now and for eternity. So let’s not be weary and give up.
