Blessing And Rewards: Part 1
Revelation 22:12-16 12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you[a] this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
Blessings and rewards. Blessings are needed while on earth. Yesterday I spoke about miracles and we saw that there are no miracles in heaven but wonders.
Blessings are an invisible spiritual force. Blessings cannot be reversed.
If you are blessed by God, then people cannot curse you unless there is a reason. Curse cannot make a nest on a blessed person.
Matthew 6:33 ‘But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’
Romans 8:32 ‘He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?’
God’s children receive blessings from him through obedience. Blessings do not come to your life suddenly but it is a process.
In the book of Deuteronomy chapter 28:1-14 speaks about the blessings that one receives if he obeys the Lord and follows his commands. At the same time, from verse 15 onwards we can find the result of disobedience.
What do we understand from this? It is through obedience that we receive blessings. What is the reason for this? For example, suppose you have a friend who is well off, but you don’t have a good relationship with him. Will he help you when you are in need? No. You cannot expect anything from him.
God is our father and friend. He has abundant riches in store. When I have a good relationship with God, I will receive his riches and blessings. Rewards are kept in heaven. And when Jesus comes, he brings us the rewards kept in store for us.
Blessings are a result of your obedience to Christ whereas rewards are your payment for things you have done for Him.
Matthew 5:12 ‘Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.’
