The Applied Word of God - Part 21

Many times, people get a distorted/adulterated version of the Word compromising on its purity, and people combine it with their traditions/ philosophy and are deceived by the devil and it has been so from the beginning. 2 Corinthians 4:1-4 tells us how to handle the Word rightly.

Yesterday, we saw how the Christian church deviated from the foundation of the Word and if interested you can do a personal study on the history of the Bible, how it has been passed on till date that we even get to read it in our gadgets and also, the history of how the Word was preserved and the roles played by different reformers to have it translated to different languages. Many lost their life for the same, but it's due to their sacrifice that we get to enjoy the Word today.

Psalm 138:2 … For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
God Himself gives much significance to His Word that He’s positioned His Word above His Name!

Jeremiah 1:12 The LORD said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”
Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet and He was called by God at a very young age and was chosen to prophesy to the nations
The Lord showed him a vision of the branch of an almond tree. Then God said to Jeremiah that He is watching to see that what He has  spoken is fulfilled, and that’s why we call Him the Promise-keeper. Now we may wonder why God’s Word and His promises aren’t being fulfilled in our lives. The reasons are many - our lack of faith/ our ignorance/ our spiritual dwarfism, etc.
God spoke to Jeremiah and through Jeremiah, but most of his prophecies were fulfilled after years and some after centuries. God was watchful throughout the history to fulfill His Word that was released through Jeremiah, even after his death. 

2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
God is also watchful to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. If we apply God’s Word in our personal lives, we can be assured that He’ll be watchful to see the Word being fulfilled in our lives and it has been proved throughout the history. The God of generations has been faithful and watchful till date to fulfill what He spoke to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and his descendants, and prophets of various times, centuries ago. 

Psalm 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.
Exodus 15:26 I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.
God reveals Himself as the Physician/ Doctor of His people.
God gave the promise of healing in Exodus 15:26 and we see in Psalm 107:20 that throughout history God healed His people by His Word.

Matthew 15:21-28 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

God’s Word is the healing bread for His children. Are you using it as your healing bread?
Only reading the Word daily will not heal us. We need to apply the “Word of Healing” into our lives to get healed. It is like  installing many apps on our  mobile but we  don't often use them all. Similarly, we don’t apply all of God’s Word into our lives and hence we aren’t fully benefited from it. 

1 Peter 2:24 "He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed."

The Word became flesh and Jesus’ body (Word in flesh) was struck down and by His stripes we are healed. And therefore, let God’s Word took solid form and become our healing bread.

To summarize, God preserved His Word throughout history and has positioned His Word above His name. God strengthens those whose hearts are fully committed to Him by His Word. God is watchful to see that His Word is fulfilled. The Word became flesh and is made available to us as our healing bread! By His stripes, you have been healed.
