3 Basic Blessings
What are blessings?
Suppose you have everything that you need in abundance, then there is no need for a miracle in your life. It is when you have a particular need that you yearn for a miracle. If we cooperate with God, we can receive blessings.
From the life of Abraham we can see that God had blessed him in every area of his life except one. He did not have children. When God blessed Abraham with generations, he was complete. He had everything!
3 John 1:1-4 ‘’1 The Elder, To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth: 2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
John the apostle lived and died at a very old age. During this time he was in Patmos and he is writing a letter to Gaius, his friend.
John who is a senior apostle and who walked closely with Jesus is praying for blessings to come upon Gaius. He prays for prosperity and good health for Gaius. Apostle John desires for these blessings to be poured upon his friend. This is God’s desire for His children.
Gaius was a spiritual man. With the revelation that he received he never let the flame stop burning inside of him. He was strong in the faith. This news gave Apostle John great joy.
The 3 key areas that John prayed for his friend and spiritual son Gaius to be blessed in,
If you are a true child of God, God will not bring a disaster (a problem, disease etc) in your life. It is Satan who tries to bring you down. But if you fall back from the love of God, God has a method of bringing you back to him.
In Luke 15, we can see the prodigal son spends everything he has and is left with nothing. He has no food, no clothes and no job. He has gone away from his father.
And how does he come back to his home and father? Not because he heard the Word but because of the situation that he was going through. God allows certain situations in your life so that you will return to Him.
Look at the life of Job. He was a righteous man. God did not inflict pain and trouble in his life, Satan did. God allowed it because he knew Job. He was confident that Job trusted in Him no matter what.
In the New Testament, we read that Jesus did not allow Satan to tempt Simon Peter. Jesus prayed to the Father for Simon not to fall.
