You Can Come Out of Addictions Easily

God desires our spiritual graph to steer upwards, though it’s often seen that many people grow cold in their love for God over time and become an ordinary Sunday Christian. Though sin once reigned over us, after being saved, Christ takes the centre of our hearts and reigns over us. However, we live in a sinful world and the old master (sin) is still alive; and therefore we must consecrate ourselves fully to God, so that sin does not get a chance to reign over us again. We are a bondservant to the Lord, who is totally free. 

John 8:31-36 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

1 Peter 2:16 Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves.

Many people struggle with different kinds of addictions - drinking/smoking/sexual sins/ pornography, etc. and though they wish to and would keep saying about putting an end to it, they can't come out of such addictions because sin rules over them. But if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed! Jesus came to set the captives free. Jesus shed HIs own blood as a sin offering, and offers amnesty to the entire mankind; but some refuse the offer and choose to continue as slaves to sin. 

How did we become slaves to the Lord? 

1. On His part, He bought me with His blood. He owns us and we become His property. Slaves don't have any rights or inheritance, but only responsibilities. Since God bought us for a price, we are obliged to serve Him as a slave/ bondservant.
2. On my part, I'm offering myself to Him voluntarily. We are indebted to Him. Imagine yourself being trapped in a building that is set on fire, and a person risks his own life in order to bring you out of the building; and in the course of rescuing you, the person dies. You’ll be forever indebted to that person. Similarly, Jesus gave His own life to save us from death and therefore, we owe everything to Him. Our God is not a controlling God; even the Holy Spirit is not a controlling spirit, but a guiding Spirit. 

How to deal with sins after the Salvation experience?
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Romans 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.
Jesus had no sin in him at all, yet He, the Lamb of God became a sin offering for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God; just as how in the Old Testament a lamb was slaughtered as a sacrifice for one's sins.

John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
In short, we are the righteousness of God in Christ! 2 Corinthians 5:21 is a prescription given by great servants of God to many who struggle with different kinds of addictions. And it’s proven to be effective in the lives of many people throughout the world. 

Hebrews 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
Christianity is not a creed, but an experience. Taste and see that the Lord is good! If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
Jesus knew the purpose of the anointing that He carried; and it was for the salvation, healing and freedom of all who believes in Him. You have access to all of Heaven’s blessing through Jesus, because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
