You Can Live In Two Realms

We all need peace with God, ourselves, and with all men. What disturbs our peace is our flesh, the devil, and the world. Our flesh is our internal enemy.
In the New Testament, once someone is saved, they are no longer under the Law. They can now live in two realms.
Romans 7:5 “For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.”
The realm of the flesh was where we all were before getting saved (our past life). It is a part of the fallen (sinful) nature. The desires of flesh and sin were working in us leading us to death.
Romans 8:8 “Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.”
Even with the biggest accomplishments, God cannot be pleased when we live in this realm.
Romans 8:9 “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”
On reading Romans 7:14-25, many think that Paul was still living in the realm of the flesh. But Paul depicts all of our lives as he himself tried to live a life pleasing to God while still in the world.
We, however, are living in the Spirit realm if the Spirit of God lives in us. And it is only then that we belong with Christ.
When we read Romans 8.8 & 9, we understand that a believer can live in the realm of the flesh and also in the realm of the Spirit. Since a believer continues to live in the flesh, it is possible to live accordingly and also live depending on the Spirit.
In Romans 7.5, we read that we lived in the realm of the flesh
Romans 7:18 “For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.”
Romans 7:25 “Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[a] a slave to the law of sin.”
Romans 8:8 “Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.”
We live (trapped) in a body that is limited by our senses and it doesn't please God. We must know that we are spirit beings who live in a body. If we rely on the flesh, failure is inevitable. We tend to naturally live in the flesh because we don’t really know how to live in the Spirit. We try to please God from the flesh by trying to be obedient and reading the Word. But we all know that it leads to failure.
Some of us live some days in the flesh and other days in the Spirit. This is why Paul instructs us to leave the desires of the flesh and live in obedience to the Spirit.
Romans 8:9 “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.”
Romans 8:13-14 “For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”
Here we see a difference between living in the flesh and living after the flesh. Living in the flesh means being immersed in that sinful life. Living after the flesh means sometimes following sin and its desires. This happens when we are immature christians. Unknowingly, we can follow the flesh. But we shouldn't do so. Instead in the Spirit, we can put to death the ways of the flesh. Children of God are led by the Spirit.
It is possible for a child of God to live in the sinful nature of the flesh because by default we are born in the flesh. But we go from victory to victory when we willfully and deliberately put to death this nature by the Spirit and live a life led by the Spirit.
John 1:12 “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”
We have to surrender to the Holy Spirit and be led by Him because we can never please God on our own.
We can live in two realms and we have to decide who to be led by!
