God’s Intervention In Your Life
God, who is El Elyon is at the highest point is able to pick us up from the lowest point and lift us up. What we need is faith in God’s ability to deliver us.
When we are in a stagnant situation in our lives, how does God intervene and bring us out ?
Luke was a doctor from the Greek background who wrote the Gospel of Luke and The Acts of the Apostles. He was not one of the twelve disciples but he was a linguist and learned man whom God used.
Luke 1:1-4
Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
When people everywhere started writing about Jesus, Luke also wanted to write an account on the happenings after his careful investigation for the benefit of Theophilus, who could have been a noble man in his time. Luke was not a Jew, so he carefully studied his facts before writing this gospel. We can assume that he would have interviewed the disciples, Jesus’ family, Mary and Martha, and everyone that interacted with Him!
Many of his accounts also mention timelines, so he might have gone through official documents to understand dates as well. He also wrote the book of Acts after this with careful study!
Just like Luke carefully studied and worked in order to share the gospel with one person Theophilus, we also should do the same to share God’s Word with our loved ones. The work Luke put in for one person had an impact globally through the generations. We must think locally but act globally.
Luke 1:11 onwards tells us about when an angel of the Lord spoke to Zechariah, an old, barren man. The angel promised a son to his wife, Elizabeth, who they must call John.
Luke 1:14-17
He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
For 400 years before this encounter, it was the dark ages. God did not speak or appear to anyone. There were no prophets for 400 years, only priests. But even in a stagnant and status quo situation, God can step in to change the course. God intervenes in man’s affairs in a way there will be a change in history in a time when we wonder why our lives are stagnant!
