The Oaks Of Righteousness
Isaiah 61:3
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
In the past few days we heard about God giving us a crown of beauty for our ashes, oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of despair. Today, we will hear about oaks of righteousness. The anointing changes our name and we will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, that God’s splendor may be displayed. We will receive a new name, a name given by God - oaks of righteousness.
The specialty about Oak trees is that they grow very tall. Their wood is hard, and the trees are lofty, strong and magnificent. They last hundreds of years and are around for several generations providing shade for decades and decades. Another specialty of the Oak tree is that they are deep rooted, they cannot be easily uprooted by any rain, wind or storm.
Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
Let us not walk in the way of the wicked or sinners, let us not do as the world does, but let us stand out and do what Christ wants us to do and be as Christ wants us to be.
There is no difference visible between some believers and unbelievers. Just keeping a Bible and a hymnal or attending Sunday Service is not what sets us apart. The difference should be seen in our life, in that we don't walk in the way of sinners but instead we take the counsel of the Lord, living as He wants us to.
We are called to delight in the Lord and meditate on His law day and night. Such a person is one who is planted by streams of water which yields fruit in season, their leaves do not wither, and whatever they do prospers.
Those who receive the anointing of Jesus are like the magnificent oak tree. Come, rain, wind or storm, they will not be moved. They will stand firm and their leaves will never wither.
We are made righteous by Jesus, and we stand in that righteousness.
Every Oak tree stands over a burial ground. The acorn. The seed fell, died and grew into a big tree. This should remind us, whenever we see a big growth, there has been a death and it stands on a burial ground.
John 12:24
Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
In the above verse, Jesus spoke about Himself. He gave up His life and His sacrifice gave birth to a new generation of those who are privileged to be called the children of God. So also, the Oak tree’s seed falls into the ground and dies from which the huge Oak tree comes up.
If you feel your life is in ruins, it is all over, there is no hope left, then remember, the resurrection power will make you spring forth, blossom, grow, sending out branches, leaves, and fruit which will stand firm despite any rain or storm. The anointing from Christ does this for us.
We are the Oaks of Righteousness. Made righteous by Christ. Strengthened by Him, in Him.
