Jesus Has Done It For You
Back in the 1950’s Winston Churchill was a popular figure. Every speech that he gave from different platforms went down in history. People were greatly inspired by his words. Even now people remember him.
In the same way, during Jesus’ time on earth people were amazed at the things he spoke about. And there are a lot of things that we can learn from the pearls of wisdom he spoke.
Yesterday we looked at the scripture portion from Matthew where we saw Jesus multiplying bread. When we read the previous verses we come across John the Baptist who prepares the way for the Saviour of the world.
But in the end, John’s death is by a sword. Many people even now question why Jesus did not try to save John. John lived his life with one purpose - prepare the way for the Lord. But his death was not an honourable one.
Most of Jesus' disciples were killed, stoned to death, etc. We need to understand that God allowed it. The same way God allowed Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. The Bible clearly states that unless God allows not even the hair of our head will be lost. Hallelujah!!
When John was put in prison he himself had doubts if Jesus was truly the Saviour of the world. And he sent two of his disciples to ask Jesus if He indeed was the One they were all waiting for. And Jesus’ reply was - the blind can see, the deaf can hear, the dead are raised to life.
Crowds followed Jesus everywhere He went. Without public announcement, people from towns and villages, everyone who heard that Jesus was passing by, rushed to hear and receive from Him.
In one of the instances, the disciples asked Jesus to send the people away as it was getting late and there was not enough food for everyone to eat. Jesus asked them how much food they had. Five bread and two fish, the disciples replied.
Jesus asked them to bring it to Him. And He performed a great miracle.
The disciples did not have enough food to feed all the people, they themselves were helpless in front of this problem. But when Jesus stepped in, He was able to solve it.
In the same way, it does not matter how tall the mountain in front of you is, Jesus is the solution.
The resource in our hand might be small and our needs great, nevertheless trust in the Lord.
We need to have faith in the work of Jesus. Our strength is in Jesus.
John 15:5
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Why should we trust and have hope in Jesus?
The problems that the disciples faced was that :
Where Jesus is, there is a miracle, there is a provision.
In the human way of thinking, the disciples asked Jesus to close the meeting and send them off to their villages so that they could buy food. In short, the disciples did not believe that Jesus could feed them all.
Summary
Our strength is in Jesus. Many times we look at the size of our problem. As a child of God we need to trust and give our troubles to Jesus. He is our provider and the miracle worker.
