Unbelievable Truth
Apostle Paul said that God revealed secrets to him that were hidden for the past ages. The mystery about Christ and the Church. Paul started writing about this secret that was revealed to him.
Philippians 2:5-6
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
Jesus, who though in the form of God, did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped. He did not abandon God-hood, He abandoned the form of God while on the earth and took the form of a man. Jesus came as a man for our sake but He was God while He was a man too and there was no change in that. This is a mystery. The Holy Trinity is one in being and three in persons. The Father and the Son are one.
When Jesus was born, angels appeared to the shepherds and said peace to those on whom God’s favour rests.
Luke 2:8-14
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
Here the angels talk of peace but in another passage of the Bible Jesus says that He came to bring the sword and not peace.
Matthew 10:34-36
“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
Some people may say that the Bible contradicts itself. But that is far from the truth.
The peace that the angels spoke of was on an individual level or for individuals. If you have a relationship with God, you have come into repentance and have reconciled with God, without enmity and having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, then as a son/daughter of God, you will have the peace of God. But because you have peace it does not necessarily mean the overall peace of the family. That is why Jesus said that He came to bring division. Even if we accept Jesus and have His peace, as long as there are people who have not accepted Him, there is division there.
The angels declared peace to the individuals and not to the earth. Those who accept this saviour will have peace.
