Be Still
We are all residing in Christ's rest while living on earth we should earn to be in peace with this rest Jesus provides.
Psalms 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth
The above verse is referring to when Israel were in the wilderness and their murmuring made God angry .God disliked their nature of doubting their God. This is why God says ' Be Still and know that I am the God'
We must be in quiet stillness at times to allow ourselves to listen to God and hear him speaking to us. God reveals himself in this quietness. Try to make ourselves develop to be in his presence in quiet prayer and meditate in silence.
1 King 19:9-13
There he went into a cave and spent the night. The Lord Appears to Elijah
And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
10 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.”
11 The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
This is an eyeopener portion when God reveals to Elijah who was a very committed person in God. He was conversing with God and telling him he was the only one who is serving one true God all the rest are worshiping idols. Due to this Elijah was living in risk as he was known as God's prophet.
In the above portion of the scripture we can see that many manifestations happened to show God but he was not present in any of them . God revealed himself in a quiet gentle whisper. Once Elijah realized it was God's voice he covered his face and stood in front of the cave.
Similarly we all will be able to hear God's voice .God is a small still voice that speaks even inside us. We should habituate to listen within ourselves when in quiet.
Many times the presence of God will be in a context or source when we least expect it.
Psalms 84:3-4
Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you
This portion of Scripture gives an invitation to go into God's Kingdom. This place is a secure home so even sparrows built homes there. God keeps everything ready for his children. Be still and know he is the Lord and be in peace Christ's rest.
