Sorrow Shall Turn Into Celebration
Yesterday we discussed the ‘Oil of Gladness’. In Eastern culture, it was common during celebrations and festivities to take expensive oil and pour it on the head. This is clearly depicted by the woman pouring expensive oil/perfume onto the feet of Jesus. To purchase one bottle would take one year of work and earnings! It was that expensive but the woman was honouring Jesus.
The presence of God is overflowing with the oil of gladness. When He nears us, the grip pulls us out of any hopeless feelings, emotions or situations that we are facing. We start glowing externally; our facial features and muscles relax. We are internally filled with happiness. And we are able to approach the situation with singing praise and dance. This is the change that Jesus can give to all those who believe!
Esther 9:22 says as the time when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration. He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor.
Esther was raised by Mordecai and she was a beautiful, young girl. And we know the story of the king in search of a beautiful woman to make his queen. We proceed to see Esther bringing about a 3-day fast and approaching the king during that time of distress. She did things for the safety of the people and the kingdom. It was Esther’s initiative and fasting that played a drastic and important role in the future generations to come. God had raised her into such a position for such a time as this. Esther’s fasting and prayer and standing in the Lord, sabotaged the enemies strategies.
Similarly, He turns our days into days of celebration and dancing. He takes away all of our pain and sadness.
GOD TURNS OUR MOURNING INTO CELEBRATION!
Psalm 45:7 says You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.
