Rebuilding of the Ancient Ruins
Today we are stepping into Isaiah 61:4.
Isaiah 61:4 says, ‘They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.’
Who are these verses of restoration and rebuilding intended for?
Isaiah 61:1 says, ‘The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners’
This good news is intended for the poor. When the good news is heard by the poor, the captives, prisoners and those who live in darkness they go through a change and that change is described in the verses after. Through the anointing of the Messiah, the poor become creative restorers of the bad situations that man has had to live for so long. Those who have received the anointing of the Messiah are rebuilding places that have been ruined for generations.
The prefix ‘re’ refers to redoing it and restoring it. The anointing of our Messiah can rebuild and restore things and places that have been broken and in ruins for generations. It is that anointing that is passed on to us as well.
1 John 2:20 says, ‘ But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.”
27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.’
Christ is the anointed One and His anointing comes upon us.
Everyone might go through different kinds of brokenness and this anointing has the power to heal and restore all that and more.
Isaiah 54:3 says, ‘3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.’
Jerusalem was a glorious city at one time. They were well established, with huge constructions and well-built walls. But the city was destroyed, the temples torn down, Walls and the houses broken and the people were held as captives for 70 years.
Isaiah talks about the coming back of the people of Jerusalem. When they come back, they will rebuild the ancient ruins.
Isaiah 58:12 says, ‘Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.’
In Isaiah 61 God says that his people, the anointed people of God will be called ‘Oaks of righteousness’. The next title God is giving is ‘Repairer of Broken Walls’. The other title is ‘Restorer of Streets with Dwellings’.
All these titles indicate an anointing that brings restoration to the previous level of wholeness and previous level of glory. I believe that God will raise up a generation in anointing and glory who preaches the good news to all while seeing and living through broken value systems and broken states of mind. God is going to give you back everything you lost. There is going to be renewal and revival in your life as you seek first the kingdom of God. There are families that have lost a lot of their land and wealth over generations.
Today, believe that our God is able to restore all that we lost in double. The month of August is proclaimed as the month of ‘Open Heavens’. Our God owns the whole earth and he is more than able to restore and double the portion of all that we lost.
Psalm 24:1 says, ‘The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it’.
Our God is the biggest landowner and everything we receive is a beautiful gift from the Lord Almighty. God will restore the estates, the houses and everything you lost.
Hebrews 3:4 says, ‘For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.’
Our God is the first and biggest builder. Our God created the foundations of the world. He is the real builder. However today we are talking about rebuilding and not building something from scratch. Our God will restore everything that you lost.
Psalm 127:1 says, ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain’ Our God is a builder and rebuilder. Our God is anointed to restore all that we lost, be it land, wealth, ancestral properties, estates. He can build and rebuild anything that you lost and even double it for your benefit.
