God Will Restore You
The anointing upon Jesus is also for rebuilding from the ancient ruins. God is a God of generations as well as God of restoration. The gospel is good news to both who are financially (materialistically) as well as spiritually (humble) poor. Wherever the gospel has reached, there has been an upgradation/ elevation. The gospel carries such revolutionary power!
Isaiah 61:4
They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
Here, “They” are those mentioned in Isaiah 61.1 who have received the anointing of Jesus.
Now, as we move to the New Testament,
1 Peter 5:10
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
Here are the four promises mentioned in the above verse:
1. God will restore you
2. He will make you strong; mainly mental strength.
Our spirit becomes a new creation as and when we receive Christ Jesus. But our soul - mind, will, emotions - has to be dealt with. If we are mentally weak, it affects our entire body. This strength is received from the Holy Spirit and by meditating the Word. Just as how food boosts up our physical energy, the Word nourishes our soul and spirit.
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
The Greek word used for ‘being transformed’ is metamorphosis - the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. Caterpillars are unattractive whereas it's a joy even for little children to see, chase and take pictures with butterflies. Such transformation happens in our mind when we cooperate with the Holy Spirit and meditate on the Word. The troubles we face in life are momentary; after having suffered a little while, God Himself will restore us, and make us strong, firm and steadfast!
3. He will make you firm:
Meditating the Word helps us to be strong and courageous. It will turn a mouse into a lion. We need to cooperate with God. Joshua 1.7 - “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
4. He will establish/settle you
Philippians 1:6
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
God has the Spirit of a finisher and He’ll never abandon you mid-way. God always finishes what He starts. The book of Genesis and Revelation proves the same - the paradise that man lost in Genesis is regained in Revelation through God’s redemptive plan. He is the Alpha and the Omega; the Faithful One who keeps His Word through all ages. God is not bound by time and neither is He a late-comer. Our God is an on-time God and He’ll surely restore you!
