Vision Of Eternity
We should have a clear vision about certain things in life. One of those is about God- who He is, what does the Word say, if God is holy what should I be like? Another thing is a clear vision about eternity, or heaven and hell. We should know about the unseen world that works behind the seen world. We should know as much of the Word as we can.
The last 7 chapters in the book, ‘Foundations of Faith’ by Pastor Damien Antony, talks about what will happen in the last days. It is a good source to learn about what the Bible says about the end times.
What is eternity?
You can imagine a rock that is 1km in height, width, and breadth. Once a year an eagle comes and scratches at the rock. Year after year it does this and the time it takes for the rock to completely disappear is only a second in eternity. And Jesus has come to give us life eternal.
Medicine tries to prolong life but Jesus gives us eternal life. No one else can provide this. Knowing the true God and His Son is eternal life. We should live today with eternity in mind.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
A.W. Tozer once said, “before the judgement seat of Christ, my service will not be judged by how much I have done but by how much of me was in it.” It is our commitment and surrender that matters to God.
2 Corinthians 5:14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.
A.W. Tozer also said, “No man gives at all until he has given all.” We must first give ourselves to God in love as a sacrifice.
An atheist wanted to prove Christians wrong and he started farming and doing work only on Sundays when people would go to church. He had a great harvest. He was convinced that going to church was useless as he received a great harvest while working instead of going to church or praying. He published an article about this. The editor wrote back to him saying, “God does not always settle accounts in October.” Today, there may be many non-believers who do well in life. But the final account settlement doesn’t happen here on earth. We wait for eternity.
Revelation 21:1-4
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
We are waiting for New Jerusalem. Everything that is there now is only temporary. Without the vision of the new heaven and new earth, we will perish. We must pray to receive the right vision of eternity!
