The Oaks Of Righteousness
This week we have been reading from Isaiah 61 and learning from this Scriptural portion.
Today let us take a look at the last part of verse 3 -
They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
The righteousness of God makes us like oak trees which symbolises strength and endurance. You will be renamed “Oak of Righteousness”. Oak trees are very hard, strong, lofty, magnificent trees. It is a giant tree and these trees are deeply rooted.
Let us take a look at Psalm 1:1-3
(1) Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, (2) but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. (3) That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
We are not called to live a life like the rest of the world. We are set apart and called to live holy and pure according to the Word of God. The anointing of Jesus makes us all oaks, trees of righteousness. Just like the oak tree, we are strong and resilient. We will not fall and wither like touch-me-not plants.
Next time you see an oak tree you should remember that that tree is standing on a grave pit. The seed died and sapling gave birth to this great and big tree. Similarly, if you are feeling beaten down in your life, believe in the resurrection power to raise you up like an oak tree!
